Bach Viet Scouting Group  

Bach Viet Scouting Group is a non-profit organization, which serves Vietnamese Youths of Santa Clara County, North California, who were born or raised in America.To preserve the Vietnamese culture and tradition, scouters who have previously been active in the Vietnamese Scouting Movement had founded this group since 2002. Combining Vietnamese Scouting Patrols Management and American Scouting Improvement, we strive to help young boys and girls get used to an independent style of life, know how to plan individual schedule, and develop a willingness to help their communities.To adapt to the needs of varying ages of youths from six to twenty-five, there are five Troops: Cubs Scout (Ấu đoàn Lạc Long Quân-Pack 179), Boy Scouts (Thiếu đoàn Quang Trung-Troop 179), Girl Scouts (Thiếu đoàn Nhị Trưng và Ấu Đoàn Âu Cơ-Troop 60919), Ventures (Kha đoàn Trần Quốc Tuấn-Crew 179) and Rover Scouts (Tráng đoàn Bách Việt), all of which is chartered by Nang The Ky 21 Magazine.

Bach Viet Scouting Group is segregated into three units: Unit 179 includes Pack, Troop and Crew member of BSA; Unit 60919 includes members of GSA Northern California Council; Service Unit 23 is for girl’s ages six to eighteen. Experienced and enthusiastic adult leaders have been trained from basic to advance courses in Vietnam and in America. Parents participate by supporting all activities of the group, which enhances the learning experience of the scouters and help the troop meet our goals. From the beginning, Bach Viet Groups base our teaching on Vietnamese traditional culture values, while also adapting American culture. The Groups participate in all the Vietnamese community activities, such as, Tet Festival, Gio To Hung Vuong, Hai Ba Trung, Tran Hung Dao, Quang Trung, and Tet Trung Thu Middle Autumn Festival. The Groups also participate in many activities lead and hosted by BSA when possible, such as summer camps, Scout-O-Rama, Food Banks drives each year. Beside these activities, Bach Viet Groups also collaborates with many social troops to help the homeless, American Veterans, and similar groups that need support.

Bach Viet Groups started with 15 members. After 15 years, it has reached as many as 150 youths and 20 adults as leaders, most of whom have completed the Wood Badge training and now they have become the troop leaders. In addition, there are 2 dozen Eagle Scouts, 10 girls with Bronze Awards, 5 girls with Silver Awards, and 1 girl with Gold Awards. www.liendoanbachviet.blogspot.com.

Liên Đoàn Hướng Đạo Bách Việt là một tổ chức vô vụ lợi nhằm phục vụ tuổi trẻ Việt Nam sinh ra hoặc lớn lên trên đất Mỹ tại Châu Santa Clara, miền Bắc tiểu bang California.

Để duy trì văn hoá và truyền thống dân tộc Việt, một số Huynh Trưởng và anh em hướng đạo đã sinh hoạt trong phong trào Hướng đạo tại Việt Nam trước đây đã thành lập Liên Đoàn, phối hợp phương pháp hàng đội tự trị của Hướng Đạo Việt Nam và những đổi mới của Hướng Đạo Hoa Kỳ hầu giúp cho các thanh thiếu niên Việt Nam quen dần với đời sống tự lập, biết tổ chức, sắp xếp cuộc sống cá nhân và có tinh thần vị tha phục vụ công ích cộng đồng.

Liên đoàn gồm 4 ngành: Ấu, Thiếu, Thanh, Tráng đáp ứng nhu cầu cho các em thanh thiếu niên tuổi từ 7 đến 25, sinh hoạt trong khuôn khổ của Boy Scout of America, Units 179 thuộc Đạo Coyote Creek và Girl Scout of America, Unit 60919, đơn vị phục vụ số 23 thuộc Bắc California Hoa Kỳ.

Các Huynh Trưởng Liên Đoàn đã tốt nghiệp các khoá huấn luyện của Hướng Đạo Viêt Nam và Hướng Đạo Hoa Kỳ, từ cấp căn bản đến các cấp cao đẳng, nhiều kinh nghiệm và đầy nhiệt tình với tuổi trẻ. Hội Phụ Huynh cũng rất tích cực yểm trợ cho các sinh hoạt của các em được nhiều thuận lợi.

Sau 15 năm hoạt động, Liên Đoàn đã đạt được nhiều thành tích đáng kể về mọi mặt, đã là cội gốc từ đó phân ra một số Liên Đoàn khác trong vùng. Đã có hơn 20 Trưởng từ liên đoàn được gừi đi tham dự các khóa huấn luyện; có hơn 25 em HĐS nam nhận Đẳng Hiệu Hướng Đạo Đại Bàng (Eagle Scout) của Hội Nam HĐ Hoa Kỳ, và có hơn 10 em Nữ nhận đẳng hiệu Bronze Awards, 5 em nhận Silver Awards, và 1 em Gold Award của Hội Nữ HĐ Hoa Kỳ.
